Crawler Harness Walleye Fishing Secrets

Hi, Andrew Martinsen of Walleye Fishing Secrets here.

Crawler harnesses can be a very efficient way to catch Walleye, and these worm harnesses can help you keep your worm at the optimum level and keep the worm alive, so that the fish is tempted.

Walleye will not be attracted by dead worms, or worms that just hang in the water. A crawler harness will allow the crawler or worm to move naturally, without restricting the worm or causing severe damage to the worm which would affect how active the worm is in the water.

You can buy crawler harnesses at any tackle shop, or you can tie your own. With a little practice soon you will be able to tie your own crawler harnesses perfectly if you
prefer.

Tying your own harnesses can offer significant savings, plus you can make them exactly how you want them to be.

Once you have done it a few times you can have one of these rigs tied up in two minutes usually, and they cost around a dollar apiece to make. Crawler harnesses are not just for night crawlers.

These rigs can be customized to work with a wide variety of bait to attract Walleye, including leeches, plastic baits, minnows, and other worms and bait types.

Crawler harnesses can pull walleye out of rivers, lakes and more with not just crawlers, but other live baits as well. These harnesses will not hurt the bait being used,so that it will swim through the water naturally.

Using hooks with other methods and rigs can affect the movement and activity level of the bait, and this may be enough to keep the Walleye from biting.

A crawler harness can be trolled with bottom bouncers, snap weights, or in line weights, and all three of these methods can be quite effective at getting the attention of the noble Walleye.

Bottom bouncers used with a crawler harness can help you catch the Walleye which are hanging near the bottom but are not actually on the bottom of the water, because these rigs will bounce off of the bottom and attract Walleye suspended close to the bottom.

These bouncers also work well in areas where many rigs will end up getting snagged, and the bouncers will work better with fewer snags.

Bottom bouncers will also work well with beds of weeds, a favorite haunt of Walleye.
Combining a crawler harness and a bottom bouncer may be a great way to get all of the bites you could possibly want.

Do not let the harness or bouncer drag along the bottom, rather let it bump and float up a little, giving the bait a more natural and attractive movement to the fish.

A crawler harness can also prevent the loss of your bait by smart fish, because the bait is securely attached and can not be nibbled or pulled off.

Like with so many areas of walleye fishing, you may just want to be super-creative with your crawler harness and see what happens!
